out our door

This is our first spring in our new place, and it has been lovely. There is such delight in discovering what each season brings, what will bloom in the flower beds planted before we were here, what wildflowers will make their way along the creekbed, what creatures will travel through. It's just as much fun to watch the children discovering their favorite places here, getting a feel for the trees and the paths they will wander. But there is work to be done here, too.

Sailboats must be tested for seaworthiness...

Reading spots must be secured...

Adequate nesting spots must be furnished for those who share this space with us...

Forts must be built...

Wildflowers must be gathered...

And patches of earth must be made ready for the growing season ahead...
